儿童绘本是儿童文学的一环，它的主要阅读对像是学龄前后的幼儿。图像是幼儿重要的阅读工具，也是绘本最重要的组成部份。绘本的图像除了要贴近儿童的世界，也必须重视美感呈现。好的绘本，每张图像都会说话，图与图之间呈现独特的叙事关系，儿童得以由直觉进入绘本的世界，自然流畅地听故事。由于幼儿识字不多，不能独立阅读，所以绘本的文字，便须要大人代为关读，再说给小读者听。也就是说，绘本的文字并不是写给小读者看的，而是让他们听的。
. D; z4 h' C6 n5 [% B 绘本的图像和文字必须韵含默契，像呼吸、像音乐、像双打运动员般紧密配合，方能让小读者轻松愉快地阅读。
X, n! O/ K z' F A 幼儿对外在世界的认识，是从整体来掌握感觉，而非由细部思考分析的。
0 ?! ~( B( t; I$ h4 h: O9 k 这种特质使小孩在情境中，很少冷眼旁观，而经常以〔飞蛾扑火〕的热情，全情投入地参与。在与大人共读绘本时，他们不仅在听一则他人的故事，他们会与故事中的角色合而为一，亲历其境地体验这段故事。* U+ b; m) j. f3 O0 X; @2 q" I
这是幼儿喜欢重复听一个故事的原因之一。 每一次聆听，对小孩而言都是新的感受经验。因此，大人与小孩一起阅读绘本时，不要先读文字，要让他们先看图画。 预留空间，让孩子的想象驰骋，掌握绘本的整体意境。在诵读文字的时候，我们应忠于原味，既不偷工减料，也不加油添醋。 b& M+ r1 H% p& ?% B g
这样，小孩才可以体会到绘本的文学及秩序之美，掌握绘本的整体意境。
7 c! }9 p& F' P) p: \ 绘本为小孩提供丰富的体验，体验到的感受经过时间沉淀，便会慢慢化为知识和智能。在阅读之后，大人应避免说教，急不及待地说明、询问、考试。 我们应把看书、听故事的主权还给孩子，给他们足够的时间和空间反刍绘本。大人可以〔坐看〕绘本的种子，在孩子的生命中发芽、成长。 z: K# S9 G- w1 |
